Odorous house ants are small, darkly colored ants that are common household pests. Though not always odorous, they do produce a rotten smell when crushed, which is one way to identify them. Like some other varieties of ants, the odorous house ant is attracted to food sources found in the kitchen or pantry, including sugary items and meats. For this reason, they are often found throughout the kitchen and pantry areas in cabinets, shelves, and also near doorways and windows.

An odorous house ant infestation can be difficult to resolve without the help of a professional. As these insects are rather sturdy and sneaky, they have little problem roaming one’s home and contaminating food sources. For a comprehensive, lasting treatment against an odorous house ant infestation, contact your local pest control professional.
